When Is The Last Time You Did Something For Yourself?
When is the last time you did something for yourself?
If it's been a minute, like it has for most women, take a second and check yourself for signs of THE BURN OUT.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Cynical? Felt tension in your muscles for no apparent reason? Had trouble sleeping? Had an overall sense of frustration without any real reason?
These are all symptoms of The Burn Out!
It can be outrageously obvious to yourself or so subtle you don't even realize it. But it's important to acknowledge and check on yourself for these feelings often.
But Why?
If we do not take time to acknowledge The Burn Out it can rage on inside our brains & hearts and trick us into thinking we are worse off than we actually are.
The Burn Out tells us our entire lives are monotonous, terrible, unfulfilling and fills us with despair and fear.
The Reality is that we have given everything we have until there is nothing left.
Our cup is empty.
It's oh so common for people, especially women, to put their needs on the back burner while attending to everyone around them. Do everything for everyone and nothing for you. And we wear this sense of busyness like a freakin' badge of honor!
But could we stop that way of thinking?
Self care is not selfish.
lemme say that again for the people in the back...
SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH!
So lets make a pact, right here, right now:
This week you will take the time to do something
JUST. FOR. YOU.
It doesn't have to be a production or big, or cost money.
It just has to be solely for yourself.
It has to fill your cup.
Because you know those people in your life that love you and rely on you?
You can't help them if you work yourself to death. You can't serve them if your brain is filled with anger or fear. You can't be there for them if you're so tired mentally your muscles literally hurt.
You can't pour from an empty cup.
So my beautiful, strong, capable, loving friend, if you can't "self care" for yourself- do it for them.
Be completely selfish, just for a minute, and do it for the people you love.
Life is to be enjoyed, don't just grin and bear it!
Remember that and stay tuned for some GREAT self care tips later this week.
Xoxo, Heather
*Important Note-
The Burn Out and Anxiety or Depression are NOT the same things. They can look very similar, and things we do to prevent The Burn Out can be good tools for battling Anxiety and Depression too. That being said I want to be perfectly clear in stating I do not minimize or trivialize the effects and trials of Anxiety of Depression at ALL. This is simply to encourage women (and men) to make sure they take care of themselves 💕
